Rebel with a Cause

I like to think I've been on the forefront of tech progress. I figured out html codes by myself to create a homepage back in the 90's when "homepage" was it (I like to think I created something somewhat more useful than then-average homepages, which were full of links). I got on the web-based emails and am part of a few privileged netizens who actually got my firstname@yahoo.com (well, ok my unusual first name probably helps). So naturally, I also joined Friendster as it became popular. Then I jointed Myspace.com as that overshadowed Friendster. And yes, as another productive worker, I also have an account at Linkedin.

But I decided to rebel against Facebook. It's another fad, and I refuse to take my time to create a profile. I don't care that the entire world is apparently on Facebook and can be linked up. It can even have cool app's and functionality. I'm not going to bother finding out. The "social network" sites just seem to keep appearing...and I rebel against this ad nauseum churn over of same idea. Instead, I think I'll try something old fashioned and novel -- pick up the phone and talk to my friends once in a while. Or better yet, hang out with them in person. I would rather cherish my friends than sit around the computer and count the number of "friends" I have.

I still remember from the early 90's when I was so fascinated by technology what one person said to me -- technology is there to help people, it's not the main goal. So I'm going to rebel -- No more profile creation for any social network site!
