Iguazu Falls, Cataratas del Iguazu

A lizard greeted us on our way to see the Iguazu waterfalls.

Iguazu Falls from the upper circuit.

Another picture of the waterfalls. It was a breathtaking view.

You can see rainbows in the afternoon.

A view straight down where the water falls. There was a guy down there, soaking in all the water.

Another view of the falls with the rainbow.

Right next to where the water started falling.

The serene river masked the waterfall ahead.

Another rainbow heading straight for where all the waterfalls were.

Iguazu Falls is located in subtropical jungle. There were many insects and animals. Butterflies abound, including this beauty.

And another butterfly.

Do you see the monkeys in the trees? I was excited to see them.

And another monkey, on its way.

The local news was all about how people were rioting to protest against President Bush's presence.

A view from our room at Sheraton hotel. The waterfalls create fogs/clouds at night that were visible from our room.

That's an anteater, I think. It can also swing from trees.

View of the waterfall, straight down.

Another view of the waterfalls.

Water was rushing so hard that you can't see the bottom.

Two levels of waterfalls.

We also went on a boatride. Waterfalls from our boat.

The river is never clear, our guide told us. But because it rained really hard before we came, the river was quite brown.

After the boatride, we took a tour of the jungle on a 4 x 4.

This tree in the jungle shows how many different species of plants live in one tree.

Our room in Sheraton. It was quite comfortable.

That's me with the waterfalls.

It was cloudy, but the waterfalls were still gorgeous.

You can see the mist created by powerful rushing of the water.

I got to be really close to the waterfalls, and the raincoat gear helped only somewhat. My camera lens got waterspots from all the water splashing about.

The twin falls.

Sheraton hotel is in the national park of Iguazu Falls. So we weren't allowed to feed the wild animals, even if they come to our windows. After I saw this sign in our room, I really wanted to see a monkey come to our balcony... but alas, no monkeys came.

The day we were leaving was a beautiful day, showing off the glorious waterfalls at their best.

And another view of the waterfalls.

Last parting shot. It was so loud to be near the waterfalls, my sister and I had to practically shout to hear each other. Posted by Picasa
